Kaia Health Software GmbH
Kaia Health makes multimodal pain therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation available digitally. With our therapies, people can improve their health and quality of life independently.
Kaia was born when our founders, Konstantin Mehl and Manuel Thurner, were looking for an effective way to treat chronic back pain, a condition that impairs the quality of life of millions of people worldwide. Our founders' goal: to give all these people access to the best possible treatment methods! According to current scientific evidence, these are above all multimodal therapies: multidisciplinary treatments that include physical training as well as relaxation and education. The problem: capacity for these mostly inpatient therapy programmes is limited and not available to everyone who urgently needs them. This led in 2016 to the idea behind Kaia Back Pain: making the core content of multimodal therapy available digitally, so that people could support the treatment of their back pain independently at home and improve their health-related quality of life. Today, this idea is reality, and Kaia Health employs a team of 200 people with offices in Munich and New York City. The effectiveness of our digital applications has been demonstrated in clinical studies, and with Kaia Back Pain and Kaia COPD we already have two evidence-based products in our portfolio.
In everything we do, we are dedicated to innovating our digital applications. Safety and effectiveness are at the core, made possible by our Motion Coach. Its patented technology analyses users' movements via the camera of their smartphone or tablet, so that feedback on the correct execution of exercises can be given in real time during training. Kaia Health thus offers patients and doctors a safe and effective therapy option based on the recommendations of the German National Disease Management Guidelines.
Kaia Back Pain combines exercise, relaxation and educational content into a holistic therapy programme. This allows patients to relieve their back pain effectively, as several clinical studies have already shown. All exercises can be continuously adapted to the user's pain intensity and fitness level.
Kaia COPD brings lasting movement into patients' everyday lives and is based on the scientifically proven core elements of pulmonary rehabilitation. The training consists of an exercise programme, breathing and relaxation exercises, and tips and information about the condition. All content was developed in collaboration with pulmonologists, rehabilitation specialists and physiotherapists to enable people to lead active lives with COPD.
Kaia aims to support people in the long term to stay active and lead fulfilling, self-determined lives. We envision a day, not too far away, when everyone can access evidence-based therapies regardless of time and place. *Kaia Back Pain supports users in the multidisciplinary rehabilitation of non-specific back pain that has persisted for more than four weeks or that has previously occurred for a similar period.
